Success

How do you measure your success?
Do you count your money as a way to find your bliss?
Do you count your friends and family, health and happiness?
How do you measure your Success?
Some folks work hard yet still they're far from rich
Every dollar must be saved, every penny must be pinched
But they come home at night to their children they can kiss
How do you measure your Success?
How do you measure your Success?
Is it your shiny car or the fancy way you dress?
What good's the money if you got no one to share it with?
How do you measure your Success?
Do you have some secrets to confess?
Have you lived a life of sorrow and regrets?
Or as you look back now do you see you done your best?
How do you measure your Success?
How do you measure your Success?
Do you listen to the heart beneath your breast?
Ever wake to realize that we're all truly blessed?
How do you measure your Success?
Take a shot now even if you miss
Can't keep your head down just to hide your cowardice
Would you pursue your dreams even if you're penniless?
How do you measure your Success?
How do you measure your Success?
Think you got nothin'? I'll show you folks with less
Do your friends and family have their health and happiness?
How do you measure your Success?

Live Free or Die

There's a stream from the mountain
that flows through the canyon.
Many miles must that water roll.
But this part of the creek,
has run dry and I can't sleep.
I've been riding this range for too long.
The sheriff was a-chasin',
but I was scared to face him.
My time will come when called home by the Lord.
In the canyon I was waitin'
without a moments's hesitation
I shot him dead 'fore that lawman could draw.
Now when the deputies
finally caught up with me,
I was camping out beneath the Double Arch.
Well they found me while I's sleepin'
I was taken, I was beaten.
My captors hummed a lonesome funeral march.
Then I heard the gallows bell
ringin' outside of my cell.
Them deputies would like to see me hang.
But I busted myself free
when I stole the jailhouse key.
By nightfall I was on the northbound train.
Well I rode that track for days
through the hills and far away
dreaming about my old home place.
But an outlaw, he must roam
with nowhere to call his home.
My memory's the only time I see your face.
When that train reached it's end
I got out and rode again.
It don't matter where I go, it's all the same.
But I'll miss you when I'm gone
that's why I'll sing this lonesome song.
Well, thankfully, your memory remains.
Now, when I'm dead and gone
don't mourn for me too long.
Well, I'll find my resting place among the stars.
Well, I'd rather be way down,
six feet beneath the ground
Than spend my life behind those prison walls.
In the next world, may I find
a way to live a better life.
Promise only that which I can keep.
So, say a prayer for me,
but darlin' don'tcha weep.
Just burn some candles by my head and feet.
Burn some candles by my head, and feet.

Bad Luck
02:59
|
|||
Well, you can take the bad luck
with you when you go.
You can take the bad luck
as you walk on out the door.
You can take the bad luck
I can't stand it anymore.
Won't you take the bad luck?
It wasn't here before.
Before I met you
my life was goin' well.
When I's playin' poker,
no one could call my tell.
Now, when I'm bluffin'
everyone seems to know.
If you take my heart,
please take this bad luck when you go.
You can take the bad luck
with you when you go.
You can take the bad luck
as you walk on out the door.
You can take the bad luck
I can't stand it anymore.
Won't you take the bad luck?
It wasn't here before.
When we got together
my life got so much worse.
All of my friends
swore you had me in a curse.
I ain't tryin' to blame ya'
but don'tcha know it's true?
I fell into this bad luck
on the day that I met you.
You can take the bad luck
with you when you go.
You can take the bad luck
as you walk on out the door.
You can take the bad luck
I can't stand it anymore.
Won't you take the bad luck?
It wasn't here before.
Well, now that you're gone
dear, my heart is filled with pain.
Good luck has returned,
but you know it ain't the same.
Every time I gamble
I always seem to win.
But I would trade it all,
dear, just to hold you once again.
Well, you can bring the bad luck
bring it on back home.
You can bring the bad luck
I can't stand the fact you've gone.
You can bring the bad luck
you know I love you so.
I'd rather have the bad luck
than to have no love at all.
Yes, I'd rather have the bad luck
than to have no love at all.

Lost my own reflection
in the rose-colored glass.
As the cold winds were blowin'
down from the west.
She said don't go changin'
and I just laughed.
We're always a-changin'
unless we're looking back.
Ain't no chance of that!
Cat, she is a-yowlin'
Sun come up arising
My dreams,
they are fading from my waking mind.
Should I have even told you
how much you mean to me?
The hours go by,
as I just watch you let me leave.
Well I thought I could tell you,
but you didn't wanna hear.
Ain't no way to hide this
Love that I feel
I used to look to the future
now I dwell in the past.
Cause everything's a-changin'
and Time's ticking fast.
Enjoy it while it Lasts!
The cat, she is a-yowlin'
the Sun come up arising
Dreams,
they are fading from my waking mind.
I'm still waiting for the moment
when you come back to me.
But deep inside,
I know your pride won't let us be.
Ain't no sense in pretending
or waiting 'round.
Well, I was high on the mountain.
Now I'm coming down. Fast coming down!
Well I woke up to realize
it won't be the same. Oh no, baby.
But sometimes the right thing
brings the most pain.
But I ain't afraid of change!
Cat, she is a-yowlin'
Sun come up arising
Dreams,
they are fading from my waking mind.
Cat, she is a-yowlin' and
the Sun come up arising
As my dreams,
they are a-fading from my, worried, waking mind.
The cat she is meowing!
Well, I haven't got all morning.
Must be getting moving
Earn my living wage.
Though I'd rather stay asleep,
The Sun don't wait for me.
And the day is filled with
endless possibilities.
Endless possibilities.
Endless possibilities.
So many endless possibilities...

If MY Eyes
04:22
|
|||
If my eyes were dry.
It's for I had no strength to cry.
And if my eyes seem vacant
because a piece inside me left when you said goodbye.
If my eyes were sleeping
would you be there to wake me, babe?
If my eyes are dreaming.
Well, they're dreaming of the life we could've made.
And if my eyes are searching
there is no doubt that they search for you.
And if my eyes could tell lies.
Well, my mouth might lie, but my eyes are always true.
And if my eyes ever saw another woman
she couldn't make me feel this way.
And if my eyes never opened anymore
I'd just be glad I saw you today.
Yes, my eyes have seen sorrow
and my eyes have known pain.
Will my eyes
ever see your love again?
In my eyes.
Oh, in my eyes.
When I see your eyes
my soul becomes alive.
If my eyes grow weary
Would you be there to lay my head?
And if my eyes oh, my eyes.
Hey, my eyes, now they'e turning red!
But my eyes are smiling
and my eyes will be cool.
My eyes don't want nothin',
but happiness for you.
For my eyes
Oh, for my eyes.
It was so hard to
Watch you walk away.
In my eyes
When I close my eyes.
Baby I still see you
Clear as day
So, I close my eyes
I close my eyes
I close my eyes
As I think of you.
